Cornbread
Quaker Corn Meal Container

Not sweet, pairs perfectly with Mexican or Southwestern main dishes

Ingredients
  • 1 c. milk

  • 1/4 c. canola oil

  • 1 egg, beaten


  • 1-1/4 c. unbleached white all-purpose flour

  • 3/4 c. yellow cornmeal

  • 1/4 c. white sugar

  • 2 t. baking powder

  • 1/2 t. salt

Instructions

Using a wire whisk, mix milk, canola oil and egg until combined. 

Whisk in flour, cornmeal, white sugar, baking powder and salt. 

Pour batter into an 8 or 9-inch greased baking pan. 

Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until top is light golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. 

Cut into squares, then cut each square in half horizontally and serve with butter spread on top.
