Unstuffing

A camping group 4th of July tradition, as well as at Thanksgiving

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c. chopped celery

  • 1 med. onion, chopped

  • 6 Tbls. butter

  • 1-1/2 t. poultry seasoning

  • 1/2 t. salt

  • 1/4 t. pepper

  • 1 pkg. sage & onion stuffing cubes

  • 1 can of cream of mushroom soup

  • 14-1/2 oz. can of chicken broth

  • 1 c. dried cherries or cranberries (optional)

  • 1/2 c. dried apricots, cut up (optional)

Instructions

Sauté onion and celery in butter for 5-7 minutes or until onion is tender.

Stir in poultry seasoning, salt and pepper.

Transfer to a large bowl; add stuffing cubes, cream of mushroom soup and broth to moisten. Add dried cherries or cranberries and apricots, if you desire..

Place in a greased 2-qt. baking dish. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 10 minutes.

NOTE: If you like your stuffing even “more” moist, add a bit more broth. Serves 8-10. You can assemble ahead of time and bake the next day.
