A decadent, yet healthy breakfast options.
The combo of rich chocolate and sweet cherries makes this a perfect breakfast for the holiday season.
1 c. rolled oats
1 c. milk (regular or almond)
1/2 c. low-fat plain Greek yogurt
1 Tbls. cocoa powder
1/4 c. fresh or frozen cherries, pitted & chopped (or dried work too)
1 Tbls. maple syrup or honey
1/2 t. vanilla extract
additional cherries (whole)
mini chocolate chips
sliced or slivered almonds
dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
In a large mason jar or bowl, combine oats, milk, yogurt, cocoa powder, cherries, maple syrup (or honey) and vanilla extract. Stir well (or shake) to combine all ingredients.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.
In the morning, stir the oats and add a splash of milk, if needed.
Serve with topping(s) of your choice, if desired.
