3-5 lb. whole beef tenderloin
3 Tbls. butter
1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 med. onions, chopped
4 strips bacon, cut up
2 Tbls. chili sauce
4 drops Tabasco sauce
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
2 beef bouillon cubes or 2 t. beef granules
salt/pepper to taste
1 clove garlic, minced
1/8 t. dried marjoram
1/8 t. thyme
5 oz. or more of red wine
cracked pepper and garlic powder
Melt butter; add garlic, mushrooms, onions and bacon. Sauté for 5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients except meat. Simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Place tenderloin in shallow roasting pan. Sprinkle with cracked pepper and garlic powder. Pour mixture over meat and let stand 10 minutes. Cover with foil.
Bake in a preheated 450 degree oven for 35 minutes for rare, longer for med or well done.
